SAINT BARBARA’S DAY 2017

On the 27th of November, 2017, the Central Mining Institute officially celebrated Saint Barbara’s Day.

Some of the many distinguished guests included Abp Wiktor Skworc, Metropolitan Bishop of Katowice, and Jarosław Wieczorek, Voivode of Silesia, who presented state decorations in the name of the President of the Republic of Poland to GIG employees for contributions to mining through scientific activities and for their exemplary fulfilment of professional duties.

Like every year, a doctoral degree ceremony also took place during the celebrations. In 2017, post-doctoral degrees in the field of technical sciences were conferred upon:

  • Dr hab. Monika Motak – AGH University of Science and Technology
  • Dr hab. Eng. Katarzyna Styszko – AGH University of Science and Technology
  • Dr hab. Eng. Natalia Howaniec – Central Mining Institute
  • Dr hab. Eng. Jerzy Korol – Central Mining Institute
  • Dr hab. Krystian Skubacz – Central Mining Institute

Doctoral degrees in the field of technical sciences within the discipline of mining and engineering geology were conferred upon:

  • Bogdan Malich, D.Sc. Eng. – Central Mining Institute
  • Krzysztof Krzemień, D.Sc. Eng. – KWK “Knurów-Szczygłowice”
  • Przemysław Kędzierski, D.Sc. Eng. – Central Mining Institute
  • Robert Hildebrandt, D.Sc. Eng. – Central Mining Institute

Doctoral degrees in the field of technical sciences within the discipline of environmental engineering were conferred upon:
